Benefits of Filming in Wexford

The Advantages:

Wexford Locations Map
Wexford is ideally accessible. The county is approximately 90 minutes drive from Dublin airport and is connected by motorway and rail links to Dublin city itself. There are four railway stations – Gorey, Enniscorthy, Wexford Town, and Rosslare.
The county has a large port, Rosslare Europort. The port is ideally positioned for the shortest Irish routes to the UK and mainland Europe. It handles roll-on roll-off freight, passengers, and HGVs. The port is served by routes to Pembroke and Fishguard (UK), Cherbourg and Roscoff (France), and Bilbao (Spain).
Wexford is one of the driest counties in Ireland and has a relatively mild climate year round. The region enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other part of the country.
Ireland’s Tax Credits
Section 481
Projects substantially produced in Wexford benefit from a financial contribution of up to 32% of qualifying budget spend through Ireland’s Section 481 tax credit. This tax credit is designed to incentivise film, television, animation, and creative documentary production through Ireland’s Department of Culture and the Revenue Commissioners.
The Section 481 financial incentives are subject to specific training related requirements on which Screen Wexford can provide advice and assistance.
Nationwide Additional Production Fund
This additional production loan is for projects (live-action and animated feature film and television and short films) that are carrying out production in areas of Ireland outside a radius of 65km from the Dublin GPO.
More information can be found on the Screen Ireland page for the Nationwide Additional Production Fund.
Variety of Locations
Wexford has a range of beautiful locations in a small geographic area. The region has a wonderful mix of ancient and modern buildings, built up areas and rural farmland. You should be able to find a range of locations for your shoot. And the best part is that the county is small enough that driving from top to bottom takes only around 60 minutes and from east to west, takes only around 30 minutes.
