The South Slob
Features
The South Slob is a flat area of reclaimed land in south County Wexford.
The sloblands may be an ideal filming location for scenes that need a vast expanse of even land. The land is flat, wide and mostly undeveloped. This gives it an unusual look and a slightly mysterious quality.
The polder is used mostly as farmland but a large variety of rare birds and animals also make their homes in the area. On the north east side, a small road separates the slob from the sea. A long brackish water lagoon cuts through the centre of the flatland and may add visual interest to shots. The South Slob Pumphouse is located at the north entrance to the area. On the far side of Wexford Harbour is the North Slob which holds the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve.
