Wexford
Features
Wexford is a large county town in south east County Wexford.
The town is the largest town in Wexford and may be a useful filming location because of its unusual character and because the town holds a variety of locations within it. Wexford is an characterful, coastal and developed town.
The old town was first settled by the Vikings, and like all Viking towns, is unusually laid out. There are many curving, tight and steep streets that reflect the original layout of the Viking town. At the centre of the town are North and South Main Street. These shopping streets are partially pedestrianized and are lined by old buildings from as early as the 18th century. The town faces Wexford Harbour on one side and has good views of the sea and the River Slaney. On the seaward side, there is Wexford Harbour and Wexford Harbour Bridge. The harbour includes a promenade that is popular with tourists.
It is located at the end of both the N11 and the N25 and also has rail links to Dublin at Wexford Railway Station. The town may be an ideal base for shooting locations in the south and south east of County Wexford.
The National Opera House is located in the town. And The Irish National Heritage Park is located just outside of the town.
