Open Call for Short Film Award
Overview
Screen Wexford, in partnership with Wexford County Council Arts Office, is delighted to announce our Open Call for applications to the New Voices Short Film Awards 2026. This biannual film award is valued at €20,000 and its main aim is to provide funding and mentorship support to emerging filmmakers based in the County Wexford region.
We are looking for unique and original ideas from talented new filmmakers with authentic voices, telling diverse stories. These films can encompass any genre, including drama, animation, experimental art film or documentary.
Key Info
• For 2026, two short films will be awarded funding of €10,000 each. This will be broken into €7,000 cash and €3,000 for film equipment hire from our partner film sponsor company, The Film Equipment Hire Company.
• In addition, the teams will receive mentorship support from leading film industry professionals as well as ongoing support from Screen Wexford.
• The films can encompass any genre, including drama, animation, experimental art film or documentary.
• One of the core creative team (Writer/Director/Producer) must be from or living in Wexford.
• Applicants must have a short script or treatment, with a focus on Wexford as a location or on Wexford culturally.

Timeline
Opening date: Monday, 30th June 2025
Closing date: Tuesday, 30th September 2025
Winners Announced: December 2025
Delivery of Films: By August 2026
