One Shot Ireland 2026

One Shot Ireland – a new filmmaking initiative coming this June!

Screen Wexford is delighted to share details of an exciting new filmmaking initiative that may be of interest to creatives across Wexford.

One Shot Ireland is a new national filmmaking programme designed to give emerging and developing filmmakers the opportunity to create a complete short film within a highly collaborative and practical environment.

Taking place this June at Clermont Screen Hub in Wicklow, the initiative runs from 4th – 7th June 2026, beginning with an information and introduction evening on Thursday 4th June, followed by a concentrated period of creative development, rehearsal and production over the following days.

What is One Shot Ireland?

One Shot Ireland is an intensive creative filmmaking experience built around a simple but powerful concept: creating a short film in one continuous shot.

The one-shot format challenges filmmakers to think differently about storytelling, blocking, performance and camera movement. It requires preparation, teamwork and creative problem solving — all essential skills in professional film and television production.

Participants will work together through a structured process that includes:

• Development of a short script

• Practical workshops on directing, performance and camera movement

• Rehearsals with actors and crew

• The production of a completed one-shot short film

The initiative is designed to create a supportive learning environment where participants gain practical filmmaking experience through collaboration and hands-on work.

Programme Dates

  • Thursday, 4th June – Information Evening and Programme Introduction
  • Friday, 5th June – Sunday, 7th June – Workshops, rehearsals and production of a one-shot short film scenes

Location: Clermont Screen Hub, Wicklow

By the end of the programme, participants will have taken part in the full process of developing and producing a short film within a professional creative environment.

Who Is It For?

One Shot Ireland is designed for creatives at different stages of their journey, including:

• Emerging filmmakers looking to gain practical production experience

• Actors interested in exploring performance in a continuous take format

• Writers who want to develop scripts designed for visual storytelling

• Crew members looking to gain on-set experience

• Anyone interested in developing collaborative filmmaking skills

The programme welcomes participants from film, theatre, media and other creative backgrounds, and aims to create a collaborative atmosphere where everyone contributes to the finished project.

Why the One-Shot Format?

The one-shot technique has been used in some of cinema’s most memorable scenes and films. By removing the safety net of editing, filmmakers and performers must rely on preparation, timing, performance and teamwork.

For participants, this format offers several unique benefits:

• A deeper understanding of directing and blocking

• Greater collaboration between actors and crew

• A focus on performance and visual storytelling

• Practical experience working within production constraints

It is a format that demands creativity, coordination and trust across the entire team.
